Hello everybody! I'm Dipankar Sutradhar. This is my first day here and to say the truth, this has been on my mind since quite some time now. It seems very exciting to share some views with the rest o the very genius people out there.
I believe tat everybody should get into the mainstream o thoughts and try to contribute to the ever expanding bank of budding ideas. In this i shall write about artificial intelligence and it's effects on our planet. Artificial intelligence is a very intriguing subject tat scientists have been trying to develope rapidly and to say the truth, they have actually achieved many a milestones in the process. Now in the age o computers and information technology, this is really important to have more facilites and even more in the computer tat we use. Today computers have been able to do in a wink what an average person would take months together to do. There are tons of advantages due to these advances in technology. But wat is the extent to which this race may continue? Will a time come when human intelligence would be surpassed by the computers? Will the time come when humans will become slaves like computers are now? Tat is big question. Another point o view is tat no matter what, where are we leading ourselves to? Are we running away from our origins? From nature in the name of developements? Nobody knows. I invite people who think about this issue and i hope it'll be a very interesting conversation

Nice read!
ReplyDeleteIMHO I would like to say that in the distant (or perhaps near)future we will see 'Intelligent' devices augmenting human body. This can also be said to be a form of Rehabilitation robotics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rehabilitation_robotics)
Now consider if all your body parts are replaced by electronic and electrical components, will the you-ness in you remain. I'd say yes. So an essential robot is also a person.
[Even the brain may be replaced some day: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-16305299]
Then why can't we consider an entity capable of emotion, logic and reasoning to be at par with us humans.
Please try to attend this conference. Its in Pune.- http://www.pheade.ro/2012/
Nice post Zubin...
ReplyDeleteAugmented reality is a starck reality due to the immense surge in the advancements of technology. Replacing all my organs is a boon.. undoubtedly. Also, the robot with all humanly capabilities will also be human somewhere.
But, the human race always has been highly competitive. We have always used the best of our capabilities to stay ahead in the race of survival. I think these traits will be inherited by the our robotic counterparts.
Although it may seem to be a fascinating thought... will humanity face a time when such humanoids with superior capabilities may stand as the biggest threat to the very existence of the human race ?
